Welcome to another guide. Today, I want to show some of the ways I use to make money with my blog.
In fact, these are proven ideas anyone can use, it doesn’t matter if you are just starting or have an established blog, these ideas will work.
To make it even better, I have included steps you need to take to get started.
As such, be sure to read to the end and as always, if you have any questions, I’ll be in the comments section answering them for you.
If you are yet to start a blog, here’s a guide.
With that said, here are some of the best ways to make money blogging as a beginner:
1). Create and Sell Online Courses
The first and most lucrative way to make money with your blog is through online courses.
An online course is exactly what it sounds like; a course you can take online.
The process is simple actually;
The first step is to decide what you want your course to be about. This is important because you need a topic that people are interested in and that they would like to learn more about.
The next step is to actually create your course. This can be done in a variety of ways, such as by creating a manual, writing an eBook or creating videos that are uploaded to a central place where students can easily access them.
Once you have completed writing your course, you will need to market it and sell it online.
There are many ways this can be done, such as through social media, advertising and mailing lists.
The secret here is to create a course around a topic people struggle with a lot. At the same time, make sure your target audience is willing to spend money to solve this problem.
2). Selling Books and Ebooks to make money with your blog
Another proven way to make money with your blog is by selling books and e-books. The latter is a book you can read on your phone, tablet, or on a laptop and it is in a PDF form.
As you can guess, those who love reading are always on the lookout for new books and ebooks to read. You can take this unique opportunity to create and sell your own content like an ebook.
How?
Well, you have two ways to make money through this method.
The first one is creating your own eBook. This is actually easier than you might think. We’ve already covered how to create and sell an online course, right? Now, think of the eBook as he written course.
Instead of recording a video teaching a skill, you only write and use pictures to illustrate your points.
Isn’t that easy?
Selling books and ebooks is not just about making money but also about building an author platform that will help you grow your business in the future.
The question is, what will write on the eBook?
Here’s a simple idea:
Do you see that popular blog post in your blog? How about you collect a couple of such blogs (popular ones) and combine them into an eBook.
That’s what Mark Cuban did with his best selling book: HOW TO WIN AT THE SPORT OF BUSINESS.
It is just a collection of blog posts he had written.
And you can do the same.
Some of the things that you need to keep in mind when selling books and ebooks are:
- Keep it short, sweet, and concise
- Keep it focused on a specific topic or niche
- Provide value in your content so people want to buy it
Finally, here’s what I think:
Selling books and ebooks for money can be a great way for bloggers who have blogs about topics that are not typically monetized well like fashion, personal development, DIY or cooking.
But even if you are not in any of these niches, you can still make money selling eBooks. You just have to figure out how to help your audience solve a specific problem and present the solution in form of an eBook.
3). Promote Other People’s Products/Services
You can make money by promoting other people’s products and services on your blog. This is in fact what is commonly known as affiliate marketing.
Here, all you have to do is promote other people’s products and services and earn commissions when a sale is made.
There are many ways to go about this but it can be as simple as creating posts that share products you have found helpful in your life.
However, you have to be very particular about the kinds of products you promote on your blog.
You need to ensure that the product you are promoting has a reasonable return on investment (ROI) for your time and effort that can be achieved over time so that it is more worth your while.
So, for this to work, you first need to identify products or services that can benefit your current audience.
You can do this by conducting a quick search on Google for things like courses, eBooks, or physical products.
For example, if your blog is all about headphones, you can promote headphones from a major online store in your country.
Once you have identified the right products/services, check if they have an affiliate program. If they do, go ahead and join.
Alternatively, you can sign up for affiliate programs like Amazon Associates.
Amazon Associates is an affiliate program that allows bloggers, websites, and other publishers to earn revenue by promoting products sold on Amazon.
It enables these members to earn a commission (usually ranging from 5% up to 30%) when they send traffic to one of more than 18,000 retail sites by linking them through the AssociateTag.
Once you’ve signed up and accepted into the program, start promoting these products on your blog and you earn a commission every time someone clicks and buys.
4). Make Money Serving Ads on Your Blog
If you are a blogger, you might be wondering how to make money with your blog. You can monetize your blog through advertising.
Many bloggers have had success with this method. It is a great way to generate revenue for your blog and it doesn’t require much effort from you.
All you have to do is sign up with an ad network like Google AdSense, and then you’ll partner with companies that want to advertise their products on your blog. Google will give you a small percentage of whatever they make from the ads that you show.
But there is one big problem with this kind of way of monetizing your blog. Since you make money whenever someone clicks on ads showing on your site, it means you need more traffic.
The math is really simple.
More traffic you have = more money for you.
This means that big blogs attracting millions of views per month are in a better position of making decent money.
If you are okay with a couple of hundred dollars per month, this is one of the best ways to make money blogging for beginners.
One more thing:
There are other ad networks that pay well like Mediavine. But they are more selective in who they accept to their network.
5). Write Sponsored Posts
Offering sponsored posts is one of the most popular ways to make money on your blog. Here, you get paid to write sponsored posts for brands and companies.
This type of writing is a lot different from what you would typically do on your blog, but the pay is much higher. You might be able to make as much as $500 per post or even more. If you have a blog that has huge traffic, this can be a good way to get paid for your work.
The term sponsored posts is used to describe blog posts that are paid for by advertisers. The goal of these posts is to lure in the readers and make them click on the sponsored links or ads.
Here, a company/brand approaches you to write a blog post praising their products/services. And in return, they pay you a certain amount of money.
While it might not be the most ethical way to monetize your blog, it is still one of the ways that generate revenue for your blog.
Just make sure you are working with reputable brands and the sponsored post is actually helping your readers.
6). Start a Consulting
You can offer consulting services to make money with your blog.
Consulting is a broad term that can refer to a wide range of services. It is an umbrella term that includes such services as strategy, project management, and operations.
Here, you are essentially offering your expertise to the client at a fee (a one-time fee, or a per hour). In fact, I know someone charging upwards of $1000 per hour and has a 6-month waiting list!
If you are considering starting a consulting, it is important to know the different types of consulting and how they are used in the marketplace. You should also learn about how much you can charge for your services and what other people in the industry are charging.
For example, if you are blogging about digital marketing, you can offer to consult with small businesses looking to revamp their digital marketing efforts.
Just add a page where clients can contact you on the blog.
7). Sell Freelance Services
You can also offer freelance services and make money with your blog.
In a nutshell, freelance service is a type of business which is run by individuals or companies for the purpose of providing services to customers. These freelancers work on an independent basis and they do not work under any employer, but they have contracts with their clients and are paid according to these contracts.
For example, you can offer to blog post writing services to other bloggers, companies, or individuals.
And since you already have a blog, it should be easy to find clients. They can vet your skills and even contact you right on the blog.
The key to success in selling freelance services on your blog is having a good niche. This can be done by researching the market and identifying the needs of people in that niche. But that’s just the beginning.
To be a successful freelancer, you should have an eye for design and aesthetics. You should also be well educated in other fields of interest to entice your potential buyers.
As you can see, there are a lot of ways to monetize your blog. However, each model offers its own unique set of challenges and drawbacks that make it more or less suitable for different people.
